What Is A Knock Sensor And How Does It Affect Performance? And Can I Change Them Myself?

You should see a Check Engine light is you have a bad one.

They are located below your intake installed into the valley cover.

a knock sensor senses engine knock and adjusts the timing so you dont blow the motor. if there bad i would replace immediately.

Yes The Light Turned On For Just An Hour Or So. Just Long Enough For Me To Get The Code Out. But The Light Turned Off And Has Yet Return.(3 Days Later) The Dealer Siad It Cost $650. Can I Do It Myself With Just Simple Tools In Garage For Cheaper Or Should I Just Stick With Goodwrench Guys?? (ive Never Done Any Job Like This Before Obouisly) Thanks Alot Guys!

dayum, 650 my ***! With power tools you can get the intake off in 45min tops. in Black Z/28's response, his link points to a how-to remove the intake, check out this pic and look on top of the valley cover at the two circular sensors, thats them:

Save some $ and do it yourself, you alone, for the first time will prolly take anywhere from 2-6hrs to do this depending on how mechanical you are.
