Its the port closest to the firewall. The fitting will only fit on 1 port. They're 2 different sizes. The 1 at the condenser is the high side.

Since this is related, how hard is it to recharge the A/C by yourself, and how many bottles of R134a does it take? Thanks for any help.

Best is to go by low side pressure when you are
running the A/C full blast. Get a fill kit with the
gauge (if you don't want to go whole hog and
get a manifold gauge set). Add juice until you
get close to the top of the indicated low side
pressure "good zone". Blow the rest of the
can off to help clean out the ozone layer, or
just use the whole can and see if you go over.
Not a big deal, excess low side pressure, as
long as you don't start slugging liquid into the
compressor.

3-16 ounce cans is 3lbs.You need 24 ounces.

I'd do what jimmyblue suggest unless you have gauges. If you're unsure you should take it to a shop. Its a real exspensive mistake if you mess something up. ie;compressor damage!
