Default Car cranks but doesn't start! Help Please!

OK, I know I have seen post for this problem and tried most of them. I just want some opinions. It will spin over, it is not a fuel problem it is spark. Replaced crank sensor and ignition relay. Where would you go from here? It does fire up sometimes but that just ain't good enough for me. Been at shop for couple of weeks, they're stumped too. Mods are only bolt ons w/ LS1 edit. Thanks in advance for any help.

Nope not a VATS problem. When it starts it runs like a top. Its kinda tricky, sometimes it fires right up and others it does not. It will always fire, you just never know how long it will take to do so. Should not be a key chip thing either since it does it with both sets of keys.

even though it cranks it sounds alittle like a bad battery or battery connection. I've seen bad batteries cause 'em to start and die but hold the gas down alittle and it'll run while the alternator charges. you might try it with a jump box on the car and see if it doesn't work out better.

Battery is tight. This is the first thing I checked, although I could switch to top post. I don't think the battery is bad its less then a year old yellow top optima. I will look into this though.

tight doesn't mean good pull the terminals off and make sure theres not any corrosion inside of there. also if the computer has a programming glich in it disconnect power will reset the computer and may fix the problem for a short time. you might want to check the cam sensor out as well, it can cause hard start problems, and if the cam sensor shows a different cylinder than the crank sensor, you will not have any spark, they have to agree for everything to work right.

OK, I have already changed out the crank sensor. Does that matter?

I dunno a shop put it in. It started for a month no problems after that, then went right back to not starting.

Have you tried disconnecting the MAF? I've been told by several people a bad MAF can cause starting problems.

Battery is good. I'm getting spark to coils, so not ignition switch. I have less than 50,000 miles on car and motor. Car is at a shop so I am passing the info to them. He said he was going to do something with the pcm to see if that is bad. If it is that will suck because I will have to have get it tuned again. If something does happen soon I'm going to cry. Going to try the MAF and see what happens. Thanks for the help, I'll keep ya'll posted.

I am leaning toward the crank relearn, sound like that could be it, did you put a cam in the car by chance?

Nope, all internals are stock......just every bolt on except for ls6 intake. The only thing I have put inside motor is oil. Do I need to take it to a dealership to have it re-learn or just disconnect neg. terminal on battery?

The crankshaft position relearn is basically start the car with a tech 2 connected and in the proper menu and when instructed by the tech 2 push the accelerator to the floor quickly, the second you hit 100% throttle position let off.

did you have the problem before you replaced the crank sensor? it sounds like you had the problem before changing the sensor and then changed it trying to fix the problem. so even if you have to relearn the crank sensor or whatever, you have another problem too. Good Luck.

Yes, I did have the problem before the crank sensor was replaced. It worked great for about a month then back to square one.

How's the fuel pressure? Sometimes a bad pump (or one that is on the way out) will cause this.
