Default Is there a catalytic converter flow comparison chart around?

I'd like to see which ones flow and which ones don't.

Have you tried searching. I know I saw a comparison not too long ago.

I have tried...I saw a post from about a month ago, that had a table of data from years ago. Then someone from kooks chimed in and said their cats flowed like 590 cfm, which is amazing. Just wondering how the field stacks up...I've been out of the loop since January...

thanks Wilwaxu. One question - serious - are carsound cats really as bad as some people say as far as quality goes?

Other than that one guy in one of the links, I've heard nothing but good reviews about the carsound / magnaflows. No telling why his failed.

Cats tend to fail on me more from banging them on a speed bump, so cheap is generally better than getting 4 more HP from a cat costing triple or quadruple the price.

I've even thought of running two in parallel on each side
Lets see, that would be (436.7 x 4) =1746.8 cfm / 2.2 = 794 hp that could be supported. Actually thats only the 2.5" carsounds...I wonder how much better the 3" flow.

Your kidding right. If that reasoning was correct, that would mean we could run two chokemasters in tandem to equal the flow through one magnaflow. The flow through your cats is not additive. If it was I'd have like 20 cats, one every 2 inches, from my y-pipe to my muffler tips.

I meant in parallel, not in series.

(see attached pic).

Also, the test does not show which carsound cat was tested. If you go to their (magnaflows) site, they have many models. I see some cats for 450+ cubic inches.

Gotcha....I'd have to wonder though, if the extra 4 y's you'd have to make to achieve a parallel circuit like this would negate the extra flow capability.

true...

Just one of the million thought floating in my head

It would proably be better to by a bigger converter from them.

what is funny about my carsounds is the box shows a picture similar to the one I drew below that shows another one of Carsounds flow supiority. It states that other cats are made with the pipe inserted inside (such as the red circle), and that it would disrupt the flow exiting the cat. Unlike the seam/weld job of the carsound (blue circle).

When I looked at my cats, both sides were welded like the red circle. I think I might just hit the I.D. with an air grinder
