Default Questions on Headers

Ok guys, I've been wanting to get headers since i got the car and i'm almost ready to make the move. But i have some unanswered questions on them. From what i know to get the most power gain is to go with long tubes. I have heard these are illegal and my car will not pass inspections with them equipped. I have also heard the cat along with some sensors need to be moved around. this all sounds very expensive, but is this true? is it true that with long tube headers i can expect a performance gain of 40 horsepower?

what about mid-length or shorty headers? how much of a gain can i expect from those? and will i need to move sensors or my cat? will i be satisfied?

Long story short get LT's, and check your states emissions laws.

It all depends on your states emissions laws. True, LTs are illegal due to the fact that they either move or delete the CATs. If your state is an OBDII test state (they just plug into the computer and look for codes, no sniffer) then all you need is to "get rid" of the error codes, either by O2 sims or tuning. As far a visual inspections go, most techs don’t know what their looking at, or more often don’t even look.

just make sure you have CATS if youre worried about inspection.

go with a SS header also for longevity.
