Default I have no idea which headers to get.

I've been reading around and came to the conclusion that LTs give the best gains. Now the only question is brand. Some cost more and some cost less.

I would like to know you guys barebones feelings on each brand and type to help guide me in the right direction. I already have a hypertech, 160* thermostat, air lid, magnaflows, and drop sprins.

Which headers should I get?

I want the best gains for the buck.

Best bang for the buck are going to be the Pacesetters, there coated so the saltwater in Hawaii is going to make them rust after awhile.

Kooks and QTP's are stainless steel but will cost you, I'm very happy with my Kooks.

The way I look at is you have two options, coated or stainless, if you go coated, may as well get Pacesetters there the cheapest and many seem to like them. Kooks and QTP are basically the same.

i just put a set of coated pacesetter lt's on my car and love them....they are definately the best for the money. i would definately stay away from the slp long tube headers, havent heard to many good things about them...so i would say go with pacesetter's!!!

I ran a 14.3 @ 100 stock. With the added mods below (note Kooks headers and Y-Pipe), I ran a 12.821 @ 109...1.5 sec gain and trapped 9 mph higher...

QTP They are stainless and not that much i think like 724.00. Best headers out there and they look bad ***. Spend the money once and be done with it. Good luck

I am looking at the Dynatech SuperMaxx full stainless system. Through Summit or Jeg's they are $1295.00 and is a complete kit. Looks like very good quality and includes bullet style high flow cats, O2 ext., gaskets, band clamps as well as V-Band clamps where the cats attach to the headers. I have heard good things about them and considering what you get for the price, you can't go wrong.

How much do you really have to worry about rust in HI? I have QTP's but if I lived where there was no salt on the roads I'd have Pacesetters.

I live in TX and when i had the uncoated (black painted) edelbrock shortie heaaders on my LT1 the black burned off the first time u fire up the motor, and then the rust takes over looked HORRIBLE, and im 300+ miles from the ocean and no snow (salt) so DONT even think of getting the uncoated

btw i have the SLP LTs on my SS, at the time they were the only real option (hookers werent even out yet)
they suck ***.
lowest hanging
hardest install
and worst flowing.

Get the coated pacesetters and if they rust, buyanother set and you will still have money in your pocket instead of buying KOOKS or QTP

If I had to do it all over again I would get some kind of 1 7/8's headers. I had a buddy that got them for his all bolt on car and I told him up and down they where to big going to loose low end blah blah blah. Once he got it on the road next to my H/C car with a mail order tune I was like . Now I am looking in to getting a set... So if you plan on doing any upgrading in the future I would think about spending the money and getting a big set and get it done with!

Also the coating helps keep engine bay temps down, just another reason for coating them. My coated hookers rusted in the flanges after one year and that is not driving it in winter or living by the sea......, so they won't last forever. Plus I blew a AIR connection on them and had my friend weld it up and it looks like franken header on the one side so if you don't need the AIR for your state get the race style. So if someone wants to buy a cheap set of coated 1/2 race 1/2 AIR rustyin the flanges Franken Hookers let me know Yep thought so...

Just my opinion, good luck!
