How hard to pass inspection with cut-outs (cut-out owners)

Default How hard to pass inspection with cut-outs (cut-out owners)

I am thinking about gettting electric cutouts for my 2002 camaro. How hard would it be to pass inpection in Virginia with them? Thanks alot

if they are closed, i dont see them being a problem.

Yes, if closed, I dont see how it would be any diffenent than running your regular exhaust, assuming that would pass.

Ive heard they wont pass if they notice them, do you think they will notice them?


Does anyone have any first-hand experience?

I took my QTEC off and just capped it when I went through last.Just to be safer.... No visual ...sniffer + dyno though...

Alot depends on the inspector, if the guy is a stickler for the rules, then yes he can fail you, if you get one that doesn't give a damn chances are you could have a 6-71 blower sticking out of your hood and you'll pass.
You might want to go to your local section of the board, and ask about "friendly" inspection stations, unless the inspection is done at a state run station whos only function is to inspect cars, chances are you can find a station that'll overlook certain things
(I used to get mine done at a friends station, I got away with ALOT)

i just came from a pa inspection and asked that very question.federal law says no exhaust cutouts on any street driven vehicle.the inspection station said it just depends on who is doing the inspection.hope this helps

1. Physically go to a local inspection station.
2. Ask who the inspector is.
3. Ask the inspector, "Will my car pass a state inspection with a sealed exhaust cut out?"

If he says, "No.", repeat steps 1-3 at a different shop.

That is the only way to know. Don't waste your time making an appt and "crossing your fingers."
