Default Ported throttle body is now sticking...wtf?

I recently ported my tb and made it all pretty and stuff. When I put it back together everything works fine. Then when I installed it back on the intake it still works fine, but then when I start the car the tb blade sticks. When you go to press the accelerator it holds kind of like the blade is hitting the wall inside the body. Plus when you let off the accelerator it doesnt close all the way and keep the idle at like 1400/1300. Then I turn the car off and there is no sticking at all. Ive been ******* with it for like a week now with no luck. I sanded down the blade a wee bit in some places and changed the screws holding the blade in. I dont understand what would cause this to happen. Has this happened to anyone else or does anyone know whats causing it?

loosen up the screws and open and close the blade a few times to let it settle intself in, tighten up the screws, hopefully this will clear this up for you.

It fits perfect still. There is 0 sticking when its turned off. As soon as I start the car though it sticks. Then I turn it off and its normal again. I played with the screws and everything.

Question what tb u using

i heard that happens with fast 90mm tb that's why i went with nick williams.

I read in the forum of people getting around it by drilling i think an eight inch hole in blade, better do a search though. I heard fast tb blades sticks open because of the air gettinh sucked in over the blade

too bad i have fast tb sitting around

for sale never used fast 90mm tb - $375 shipped (450 new)

Have you double checked to make sure you have the throttle return spring tension set correctly? When I did mine, it was doing the same thing you were discribing. I kept adjusting the blade and it didn't help, still wouldn't close all the way. Finally noticed that I had one of the ends of the return spring in the wrong place and it didn't have enough "spring" to close the throttle all the way. Tightened the spring up and everything is back to normal. Just a thought.

I would make sure that the idle stop screw is in contact with
the blade, barely, in resting position. You don't want the
blade to be stopped by the casting, you want it stopped by
the shaft. Engine vacuum snugging it into the casting is the
most likely cause of the sticking.

The racing idle, I'd suspect is either a vacuum leak or maybe
too much material removed (none should be taken from the
seating circle). Also check that nothing has gotten onto the
IAC servo seat that might keep it from sealing if it tries.

well the reason for the higher idle is because the tb isnt closing all the way. But I will double check the return spring and the stop screw again.

If you're still having problems pull the blade out and feel for rough edges. I'd done 2 TB's and both times had to take fine sandpaper to the edges of the blades. After that I put it back it with the screws just a little loose, opened it and closed it a few times, then all was good. Just don't take off a ton of material. You can always take more off but can't put any back on.

Mine did the same thing when I installed it, I took some sand paper and lightly sanded the blade and that fixed it nicely.

Try checking to make sure your return spring is on there 100% correctly. when i ported my first TB, i had the same problem. then i looked at the spring, and i had it in the wrong spot-- so it wasnt getting the 100% of the tension necessary to bring it back. save yourselves some time and triple check that spring!!! compare it to someone else's or a pic if necessary
