Default Air Conditioner removal help

hey guys I have a 98 ls1 and the thing that the belt turns I guess the ac condensor blew a whole in it about the size of a quater and instead of replacing the whole system(bc there is probably metal somewhere in the system now) my mechanic cut that sep belt and I was wondering what else I should do

sounds to me like your talking about a bad compressor. If thats the case you should decide whether you want the a/c or not. If you dont want it then you can remove the compressor, condensor(the thing that looks like a radiator and is located in front of your radiator),all your hoses can be removed also, and thats about it unless you wanna do some major heater box modifications.

Well, first unbolt the four bolts holding the ac compressor in, then unbolt the bracket that bolts to the block. Take all the lines, and the evaporator out, then take the air filter box all the way off and take out the condenser.

It's not all that hard, just find all the bolts and remove it.

And Chris, when I added everything up for mine, I came out to 37 lbs.

haha must have had one of those heavy a/c units, lol, better for you and not for me

how much do you weigh that race weight seems high for having the ac out and i am guessing other **** i.e. spare tire jack, all seats but one, 1/4 tank gas etc...

I'm about 230, but trying to lose some. The best weight reduction is on myself. It sucks to think that I could gain .05 if I got back down to around 170.

My weight reduction includes the following...
-!AC, !AIR, !EGR, !Pass Airbag, !Sound Deadening (all)
-!Rear Seats and Belts, True Duals, !Spare Tire/Jack
-!Washer Fluid Reservoir, !Fog Lights (bout to put those back in)
-Stall Converter, Other Misc Crap that I can't remember

Still have passenger seat, driver airbag, both bumper supports

Weight added to car includes:
-Trans Cooler, Deeper Pan, Subframes, LCA's, Jegster TA (prob only a few lbs), and I'm doing a battery relocation tomorrow.

Future Weight Reduction Plans:
-VFN Pin-on hood, either stock or Sunoco, delete hood and latch
-Lightweight K-member
-Drag Wheels out back and Skinnies up front
-Recirculating catch can, !ABS, !Bumper Supports (once car is no longer a DD)

I'm trying to get at least halfway up the SI list before I throw in a cam.

Sorry to jack your thread Slvr98z28, but hopefully I'm giving you ideas.

Chris, would you PM me a good detailed parts list and instructions for your ram air please sir?
