Default Exhaust

What type of exhaust should I get if I want to maximize horsepower on a Z28? Any suggestions are welcome.

The SLP Loudmouth doesn't have a muffler and flows very well but it lives up to it's name by giving you an aggressive sound. The Corsa exhausts will show a little less hp but aren't as loud. They are pretty quiet in the car during normal driving and have a nice sound at wide open throttle.

I would go with the SLP dual dual exhaust. That is what I have and I love it! It is not as agressive as the LM but it still sounds great. SLP claims up to 17HP, i have not dynoed my car so I can not say. But I would find some sound cips on the web and see what you like.

magnaflow has the highest flow rate and sounds good. you can get a cat-back very reasonably or seeing I already had 3" pipes I went with the muffler only for $114.00 and I love it.

are you on crack or been standing in back of your exhaust too long? the magnaflow might flow better than a flowmaster, but it can not out flow a loudmouth....not even with god blowing on the intake end!

Pretty much all of these aftermarket mufflers on Cat-backs (I'm not talking about cutouts yet), are straight through. If you can look straight through two different mufflers which both have the same diameter piping, they should flow identical nearly numbers. If there are perforations inside the pipe in the muffler, expect a slightly less amount of flow, but not enough to make a major difference. It's not as if it makes a difference of 50Hp!

As to who flows the best, a name I never see mentioned because it isn't a popular name (and I like it that way cause I get more compliments on mine) is ATR. Not only is it straight through like the rest, but it is also 3" diameter all the way through the system. I would put this system up against any out there in terms of flow.

You can hear it here;

www.chevy4x4trucks.com/CMNTMXR81

There's even one or two there with me hanging out the back hatch while someone was driving the car to bring you the best quality sound files.

True duals are the **** but for a catback nothing will outflow a Loudmouth.

It sounds great and I love it. More people need to check out Magnaflow (and they are).

I have Magnaflow (2 of them) as a true dual setup on my 8.1L. It sounds like a BBC is supposed to sound.

BTW, Magnaflow is the same as DynoMax Ultra-Flo's polished Stainless Steel lineof mufflers. They are both owned by Walker.
