Default K&N???

I wanted to get some opinions on K&N...I had one on my car and I put my stock one back on the car last night and honestly the car feels better w/o the K&N. Can anyone give me facts, opinions, or any info of what filter I should go with??? Thanks!

If you car feels better with the stock filter instead of the K&N, then you did not have your airbox sealed properly. Did you use the extra gasket to make sure you had a proper seal??

i looked on here about that a while back and they said K&N is just the longer lasting. you have to clean and oil it and it makes a little more power IF any! so i would just keep the $10 filter! thats what everyone else has that i know.

When I had my K&N, I could swap it for a paper filter at the track and pick up nothing. Nothing at all, not even a .5mph. On the other hand, I can tke the filter out and I consistantly see about a .5mph-every time.
I swapped it for a Holley because the K&N uses the crappy extra gasket and I even had to add some more gasket {thin weather stripping} in order to seal the airbox. The Holley also has a smidge more filter area{most likely not enough to matter but it is bigger}.
The only "real" reason I can see for using a oiled gauze filter is if you have debaffled and sealed the hood to the airbox. The filter will get wet and I think that the oiled filters hold up and work better than paper in these conditions.

true the K&N and other filters do not perform like the companies want u to think. The only reason why I see someone using a gauze filter is because they need to draw in more air, and they do. If u have a H/C, S/C, T/C or even a nitrous car it would work better than ur factory filter. Even if u have a true Ram Air the gauze WILL outflow the paper filter, factory setup u probably will not notice a difference.

the biggest benifet is if you have your baffles removed on a ws6 the oil keeps water out better and doen't come all apart from the water. Go with the holley powershot or the green filter ( that is the new one on the block) same as holly but green instead of blue.

IMO if you have the free air mod and live some where it rains a lot you would want one of these as well.
