Default TB Bypass, different question?

What purpose does the line that goes though the TB have other than heating the TB? I mean couldn't I just cap off the lines under the TB and on the radiator versus connecting them with a new hose or whatever? I was looking at it today and it doesn't look like it does much else. Looking for some opinions on this.

I would leave them connected just incase they are pressurized.

There are better places to reduce weight then removing a .5ounce hose.

yea well that would do it because the only reason those lines where there are for cold conditions so the tb plate does not stick so i dont see why pluging those ends up would do any harm at all.

You have to run a hose from the engine to the radiator there... it's a pressure release for the block.. you can bypass the TB, just run a line from the crossover tube to the radiator.

I get what your saying. What if you just remove the line completly what would it hurt. I don't know I looked at it once wondering the same thing. It has to be pressurized so you would have to get some thick nipples to put over the ends. It would just be easier to just to by-pass the TB with a new hose or get the "kit" than mess with it. Being you never know and it could be and important coolant passage.

You want your coolant to flow as much as possible. If that's blocked, that coolant in that passage is going to be stagnant and get much hotter than if it were fresh, flowing coolant that gets cooled in the radiator.

Trust me, I wasn't looking at it from a weight reduction standpoint. I was curious if there was a reason other than heating the throttebody, which apparently there is.

Thanks everyone.

If you can wipe your own *** you can perform the throttle body bypass

The colant pipe to the throttle body are aparently to stop the blade freezing up in extreme conditions, I guess you need to drive around the arctic circle to get them conditions.

I beleive that bypassing the throttle body could be a perfomance mod as by not heating the throttle body means you are not heating the intake air as much.

you still need the colant pipe to run to the heads. So unplug the pipe from both sides of the throttle body, there are different internal diameters, find a pipe to slide insde both and use hose clamps to seal it. Then job done, there are posts on here on how to do a throttle body bypass.

The air flows too fast through the throttle body to heat it to any point of power loss. Same deal with aluminum vs plastic intake manifolds.

I bypassed it because there is alot of fluid in the tb and it just makes future installs/uninstalls less messy.

No it's not.

If the TB blade is FROZEN, then how is the coolant still liquid? bang:
