Default BBK SSI Aluminum intake manifold for LS1

Anyone have a BBK SSI intake. Are they worth the price?

My buddy got one not too long ago. He loves it. Got the BBK TB too I believe. He will probably post in here if he happens to see this thread.

You can pick up just as much power with an LS6 (if not more), and it won't heat soak, plus it will conform to your heads and actually fit better (flexable composite).

Sorry to bring back an old post but im looking these intakes up.

Your worry about the intake conforming to your heads? I think the small block chevy used an aluminum or iron intake since the begining of time, and im not so much worried about heat soak, I wanna know about actual performance benefits or downsides to this intake.

BBK says that it flows 15% better than an ls6 intake. Sounds like it should make more power. Im just waiting on someone to sell theirs. I'll take the heat soak with the benefit of if a nitrous backfire happens I'll still have an intake.

Im gunna be putting together a 2000 ls1 in the next couple of weeks, im gunna use the BBK intake, and either the big BBK TB or the Holley one, im gunna port and polish the intake and heads, and prolly run the new T-rex cam, hoping for some big HP..
I will definetly let everyone know what I get..

Its going in a full suspension th400 trans braked big converter Firehawk. Hoping for some good results, mid 10s maybe?

I have a BBK Intake manifold, the BBK Throttle body was a piece of **** so I got a new one, I couldn't finish it though... I broke the Oil Pressure sensor and didn't have time to put it all together before I got deployed, when I get back home I will be getting it tuned and dynoed.

The heatsoak issue is nothing to be concerned with, but you can't argue that plastic will do it LESS.

SBC/SBF metal intakes "from the beginning of time" have freakin' LEAKED since the beginning of time. RTV is only still in business because of people trying to make their manifolds seal right.

Little palm stone action and wadaya know, NO LEAKS!

The Blur is right. I don't really agree with paying the money for most of these LS6 type intakes, when you can go to a dealer (like myself) and get one for a sweet deal. Just make friend swith your local GM parts man.

The GM LS6 intake is by far a better piece in my opinion. The heat sink is really the downfall of these metal intakes.

The only place I've ever used silicone on an sbc is the water crossovers on the front and rear. Never had a sealing problem.
