Any home made CIA write ups or info?
Okay, I have spend the past 4 hours digging to no avail so I need ya'lls (as they say down south) help. I am going from a LS1 front end to a LT1 type. I wanted to use a K&N CIA, or something similer, but, on the LS1's they moved the fuse box over to the drivers side where the CIA would normaly go, on a LT1. Not so sure I could get away using the stock LS1 air setup with a LT1 hood (which will really be a SS hood soon, and, if it would work, please correct me if I am wrong) so I have been trying to do a search for some home made CIA's or even ones that route in the general direction as the old LT1 CIA's did/do.
If anyoneone knows off the top of thier heads where there are links or have some info on this, I would appreciate the knowledge. Like I said, have tried searching (so glad it works now, for the most part) but I am not turning up much. Does not seem to like 3 letter words like CIA and AIR, lol. Anyways, thaks again and I am off for more searching .

I HATE the pug ugly catfish look. It was either get a 97ish and go LS1 conversion or LS1 camaro and convert to the LT1 96ish look. LT1 engines do not have enough power or dependability for my liking, I had a 97 SS, but, for the looks on the other hand......

what he is saying is that he doesnt like the 98-02 front end, but he likes the power of the ls1. he said it was either buy an 93-97 lt1 car and do an ls1 swap, or buy an 98-02 ls1 car and do the lt1 front end conversion, and he went w/ the second. now he also wants to use the lt1 style induction(for whatever reasons) and hes asking about the fuse box on the drivers side of ls1 cars, its in the way for his CAI

First of all, I must have been smoking some wierd **** now that I look at my post before this one. WTF was I typing????
Anyways, mcamarols1 has it "almost" correct. If the fuse box was on the battery side, where it is with the LT1 style cars, it would be a no brainer for air filteration. If I go to LT1 type nose on my LS1 that I have, it is going to be a little tricky because they moved the fuse box from the pass side to the drivers side. I really dont care how I filter my air as long as I am not choking my system, so, I am looking for ideas for air filteration. I know they have some kind of setups for super chargers and they may be the way I have to go, but, I have not found any pics or writeups on it..............yet.

You might look through the FI section for ideas. On my 1999 when it was S/C I had a big conical K&N filter on a big rubber & PVC piping system to connect into S/C and into the MAF. It was tucked down pretty low.
Do you need your front license plate? You fog lights? I've seen CAI's leading from both places.
sorry no pics.

This is what I made...

I took it off because it added almost 10lbs to the front end and I care more about weight than maybe 1-2hp from cooler air.
