Cleaning engine bay?
What is the best and easiest way to clean the engine bay from grease, oil, dirt??? I'v e never cleaned under the hood because it's not something everyone sees but I just installed a cam, springs, UD pulley and want to clean it up w/ new plug wires shinny intake but I need to get all of this gunk off. Does engine degreaser work if you just spray, let soak and rinse off?

I just go to the car wash and use the engine degreaser they have there and they rinse it off with the spot free rinse. I leave the engine running as well. I know alot of people say to let it cool down, but i think that when it rains it get wet also and nothing happens, but thats just my $.02.

I don't think I would use brake parts cleaner anywhere near the paint in my engine bay.
Just spray on some simple green and hose it down with light pressure and a scrub brush should get it clean. of course make sure the engine is cool first.
There is a sticky about it in the appearance section in the hall of fame

If it's really nasty, use Gunk brand Foamy Engine Brite, and scrub with a long bristled wheel brush. Make sure you rinse it all off nicely.

If it's semi-nasty, or just a regular cleaning, I use simple green diluted in water in a squirt bottle. Spray it in sections and scrub with the same brush.
The most important thing is to make sure it's ALL rinsed off nicely.

I used my can of CD2 already but it worked very nicely along with tire dressing to shine up any rubber hoses and plastic, etc. I wish CD2 was easier to find; I've only seen it at an Air Force BX which is about an hour away from me.
