Installing Race Style LT's & Have a few questions
My LT's are finally being shipped from Byunspeed (Pacesetter Coated) and I have a few questions about the install.
1) I am pulling the Air & EGR off. I will have my stock lid on for a while because this is on back order from Byunspeed. What do I use to plug the factory lid with after i remove the air?
2) Anyone have a part# for the freeze plug they used the LS1 Intake?
3) I ordered a catted Y pipe from TSP. Can anyone post some pictures of how they clamped together their Y pipe. ORY or Catted is fine.
4) I purchased OEM GM gaskets , a set of 8 - 16MM racheting box wrenches, New plugs, MSD 8.5MM Wires, and a box of band aids. Am I missing anything?

Just pull your Air/Egr stuff & unplug the air pump.
The plug for the intake is a 1 3/8" freeze/expansion plug.
All the bolts for the LT's will be 10mm & your LT's should come with a new set. I would also highly suggest a set of O2 extensions instead of splicing the wires with the stuff from Pacesetter. Other than that its a very straight forward bolt on mod.

Jack the car up the night before and spray penetrating lub on all of the y-pipe bolts and all of the exhaust manifold bolts. And get the bosch part#13111 instead of o2 extenders. Also get a set of metal exhaust manifold gaskets from gm.

Keep this thread going, I will need this info when it starts to warm up here (cincinnati).
If you don't mind 2000SS will you PM an itemized list of what you paid for the coated pacesetters+shipping, TSP catted Y+shipping, and the gaskets (if you ordered the metal ones).
Thanks,
Matt

Well I just used the TSP O2 extension cause you have to keep you front O2's. And I used the bolts supplied in the Pacesetter box too. Just tightened them till they were tight & checked them once a week for the first couple weeks to make sure they stayed tight.
Best advice is don't make a simple bolt on install harder than it really is. I was kinda worried about all kinds of different stuff til some guys in my local club set me straight & helped me not overthink it. I have never had a issue with the car running right either.

18 lb-ft on the header bolts....
Sims can be picked up from the sponsors on the right I'm sure.

I am doing my Jet hot coated pacesetter Lt's from maryland speed this saturday!!!! can't wait!! I ordered a 5ft, 3" stainless steel pipe so the local shop can build me a catted(3" highflow magnaflow cats) Ypipe. I ordered 4 band clamps, o2 sensor extentions, o2 simulators for the rear sensors, a hanger so the pipes don't hit the floor board. All from the ws6store.com. Is it saturday morning yet?

1.) If your lid does have a vaccum line then find the appropriate vaccum cap to fit it in order to plug it. Probably a 5/16 but could be bigger.
2.) There isn't really a part number but I saw where the guy told you a 3/8. It actually needs to expand to the maximum of a 1 3/8 inch. Just go to autozone and you will see the one that expands to a maximum of 1 3/8.
3.) Don't even hesitate to go to Napa and buy there 3inch stainless steel "band clamps". If yours didn't come with band clamps I highly reccommend this or you will have leaks where the headers meet the y pipe.
4.) Ratcheting wrenches are your best friend in this install man. I would anti-seeze your plugs just a bit and be sure not to overtighten them. A quarter turn past snug is fine man. Also during the install be sure to not break the Engine Coolant Temp Sensor (ECT Sensor). If you do replace it or your car will run terrible.
Good luck man and pm me or post up if you have any other questions about getting them into place.

And don't hesitate to buy the good clamps. I ordered mine from Summit and was really impressed with the quality. All stainless steel and very well made.

GM makes a plug for the hole in your LS1 intake where the EGR bolts to. If you are interested it is part#12558346; it cost me around 10 bucks as a special order part from my delaership. Use what you want and save a few bucks or use something designed for this specific purpose.
I highly recommend purchasing and installing poly motor mounts along with your LT install. Doing so should prevent any hard accel and y-pipe banging on the floorpan issues...dont ask me how I know this.
