Default is the y-pipe hitting the floorboard dangerous

my y pipe hits the floorboard, but nobody can hear it, i can feel it though. is it dangerous at all? cuz i really don't mind it.

thought maybe it would get the carpet too hot or something on a longer trip.

Nope, can cause false knock I have heard though. Mine does & I'm about to put a piece of radiator hose over it & make a pad like thing to stop it. I know it sounds stupid, but I'm not the only one on here who will have some on my y-pipe. Its the cheapest & easiest fix for the problem.

I just wedged several pieces and most of them stayed. There was one spot where they fell out like once a month so I kept extra pieces in the trunk.

We've got gigantic speed bumps at a few of the shopping centers here and the y-pipe on my Formula hits the thigns every time and bangs the floor pan. I've got the pipes tucked up as far as they'll go too and my suspension is 100% stock. It irritates the hell out of me.

Go ahead and do it. I used just a spare piece of hose laying around the garage and a standard hose clamp to keep it from slipping off. Fixed the problem completely. After swapping out my stocker cat back it readjusted the y a bit and I no longer have the problem.

Well we got some strong wire here at work similar to bailing wire used for hay. I'm gonna run it thru the sides & use pliers to twist the wire until it gets tight & secure. Probably use (2) pieces to help keep it in place.
