Default stock or not stock

having a disagreement with some buddies...I have a 2000 Z28 that i swapped with an LS6 intake. I still consider my car stock because the 01 and 02 motors came factory with an LS6 intake. They say any modifications to your car make it not stock for that particular year....What do you guys think?

probably a dumb thread but we are bored and need to settle this one!

Its definitely a different argument LOL. I guess it could go either way but I would have to say not stock. I think it has to be parts for a certain year can only be considered stock. Its a performance upgrade so i think its considered modded. I guess if that makes any sense. LOL.

Although heres a senario too, what if a 98 car blow the motor and a complete stock motor from a 01-02 were dropped in, now you have a newer style block, 241 heads instead of 806, and an ls6 intake instead of an ls1. Now is that stock? I mean technically its a bone stock motor right?

Now i think im confused

The LS6 intake was a mod, right?

It's not stock

You guys gotta find better things to argue about.

technically yes
generally no

think of it this way if somehow ur cam got shot and was replaced from a 98 Z it wouldnt be considered factory for that particular year.

agree it's a strange argument but it's the least ridiculous of conversations and arguments we have had seeing as how we are deployed in Iraq right now, I am sure you can understand now knowing that. We tried to notionally blow 359 million dollars between 3 of us in one day without spending money on anything that you could make a profit off of. we have come up with atleast 10 different ways that we could rob a bank and not get caught, not that we would ever do it, we just get pretty bored out here at times and discussing things like that and this make the time away from our families go a little faster. So thanks for the advice, but no we probably wont find better things to argue about.

yes it was a mod, however, it was a stock OEM intake for a stock camaro. maybe not a stock 2000 camaro, but A stock camaro none the less. for instance, if a mustang wants to race me and asks what car i drive, i would reply with, "a stock camaro." He doesnt' need to know what year because it really doesn't matter, they all look the same. If a 2001 or 02 has the LS6 intake and is stock, I should be able to claim I drive a stock camaro...that way the mustang sees he got beat by a stock camaro. not cheating because in all reality a 2001 or 02 camaro would do the same thing. does anybody see where I am coming from now?

Just get more mods, that way it won't be stock and you'll know for sure.
