Question Recommend a company for an exhaust butterfly valve.

I need to get one for my Firehawk because I'm starting to get complaints from the neighbors

This way I could quiet my exhaust and open it up with the flip of a switch

You mean a cutout?
QTP makes electric cutouts.

McCord makes one too. I had one on my old y-pipe setup and it worked great.

There is a company in Australia that makes an inline butterfly valve. A little different from a cutout in that it is installed in the existing exhaust system instead of in a Y cutout. It allows you to throttle the exhaust pipe down to reduce the sound, then open it back up to increase the sound and flow.

I've also seen ones that were vacuum actuated so when you get on it, the valve opens.

I run a McCord from BYUNSpeed and it works awesome, had it for about 1.5 years now.

I thought it was toast a while back, so I ordered a new one. Found out one of the allen screws securing the butterfly to the motor had backed out a bit. 2 turns of an allen wrench and it works like new, now I have a spare.

Ok, one thing I want to mention, its for the Firehawk, it has a Corsa, that exhaust doesnt get loud until after 3k rpm. I know, I have one. How are you leaving the neighborhood,.... WOT?

Also a Cut out is not going to help. Only if the exhaust was quiet to being with, will a cut out open up for noise, with it closed, its going to be just as loud.

70LS1 has the right idea. That is what you need.

You understood my query EXACTLY unlike others

Everyone else: if I wanted a cut-out I would have ordered one from Young or QTP

Also BlackScreaminMachine, if you don't know what an MS4 camshaft, Kooks 1 7/8-stepped-to-2" Longtube Headers into a 3 1/2" Y-pipe, NO catalytic converters, AND CNC-Ported LS6 heads sounds like then you should research sound clips of Heads/Cam-modified cars

My sig mentions those modifications along with the Corsa exhaust.

On cold-start I set-off alarm systems across the street

Here is my old 383 LT1 built to the hilt with a Hotcam no less on the dyno.

I know they can be loud....

Where are these available. I would much rather have one like than an E-Cutout

Here is the Australian one I mentioned. Its made by Active Exhaust Systems. Looks like it was also the vacuum one I was remembering.

Looks like XX Tuning is a distributor for hyperflow here in the states, so they may carry it.

You might also look for diesel engine-brake / exhaust-brake
pieces. This is set up to be kind of what you want, usually
much more stout as the exhaust runs through it full time.
It defaults to open position. I see them on eBay and you
can probably find retail sellers.

Also find stainless butterfly valves on eBay, oddly enough
in the beer prewing paraphernalia section most often.

Quick Reply: Recommend a company for an exhaust butterfly valve.
