Default SLP dual dual

On SLPonline.com under the restoration for camaros and firebird link they sell and muffler known as the "quiet" program muffler.

It states that muffler would be a great "replacement and/or spare" muffler.

My question is...

Is this the same muffler that the SLP Dual/Dual system used?

From the link:

This is the original 2001-02 Camaro SS/Firehawk "quiet" program muffler. Makes a great replacement or spare for your original SLP dual/dual exhaust system. Muffler measures 3" in and dual 2 ½" outlets.
In short, my guess would be YES, this is a Dual/Dual muffler. Good find. $139.95 isn't a bad price either considering the price of the original SLP Dual/Dual exhaust. I think it was in the ~$600 price range.

Just got off the phone with SLP...This muffler is NOT the same muffler as used in the Dual/Dual exhaust system.

This muffler is considerably more quiet explained by the sales rep from SLP.

thats the SLP installed dual/dual muffler. if u bought a ss or firehawk new with the slp exhaust thats the muffler it came with. if u bought the d/d from new from slp it was called the powerflo system(almost the same but louder muffler) i'm actually looking for a powerflo muffler or complete system right now. i have a factory d/d

I think he's mistaken. You can't really get any quieter than the Dual/Dual muffler without sacrificing flow. I think what he's talking about is the "cone of silence." The factory-installed Dual/Dual exhaust had a plate in one of the tailpipes exiting the muffer. It shrunk the flow down to something like an inch of pipe and it was done because the exhaust was deemed too loud without it on drive-by dB testing.

The aftermarket catbacks DID NOT have the "cone of silence," giving them "a more powerful tone," but still used the same muffler, which is this one. I think he's confusing the factory catback with the catback bought directly from SLP - but it was still the same muffler.

That's my guess.

This man is correct. The dual dual optioned LS1 cars never came with the "cone of silence" anyways.

Yes they did...the catback by itself was too loud as per GM's specification, so they added the cone of silence to the factory-equipped dual/dual cars. The aftermarket dual/dual DID NOT come with the cone. It was louder, and AFAIK called "Powerflo."

No they did not. The cone of silence was only found in the LT1
2OTL exhaust and maybe some 98 SLP vehicles. The Powerflo muffler was internally different than the stock dual/dual muffler.

EDIT: Did anyone even bother to read the description on the SLP website? "This is the original 2001-02 Camaro SS/Firehawk "quiet" program muffler. Makes a great replacement or spare for your original SLP dual/dual exhaust system. Muffler measures 3" in and dual 2 ½" outlets."

Wow. Some misconception here for sure. Some factory D/D's ahd them (Mine included). I removed it a few years back and this is how the ring of silence looks like:

Warp, did it make your car much louder? I would like to know if mine has it but I really don't feel like taking the exhaust off just to see. Was it difficult to remove?

Exhaust tone changed slightly to a deeper sound.

Check with a coat hanger to see if there is blockage.

Here ia where you have to cut:
