Default Coolant Boiling Over!

Hey all, I've been troubleshooting a problem i've had with my car since i got it and i really need some help! The coolant will boil over when im just cruising around town for a while, however only when the A/C is off. I know the fans come on with the a/c to cool the condesor but the motor isn't overheating by any means. The hottest i've seen it might be 210-215 at the most.Pump is New. HELP!

If I'm wrong correct me but only the '98s had accurate temp gauges. 99-2002 ls1 F-bodies will have a dummie temp gauge. IIRC, so you might not know hot hot your motor really is. Get a second temp gauge on there somehow, and see what it really is.

yes, if everything is working. Do you have any codes? SES light? if not check your relays, and fuses out.

Do you "hear" your fans coming on,,as if your sitting in your drive way, letting it warm up,,,they should kick on and off,,etc.

Even with the dummy gauge when it starts climbing over the 210 mark the fans should come on and knock it back down - my car did that with the AC off (t-tops in the back) sitting at lights in hot weather after my FTRA install and stock fan settings. Was the pump just installed? Maybe there's air in the system. Something else to check is make sure the radiator cap is holding pressure.

Stock fan settings lick sweaty ***** and if you have a weak
radiator cap that's all it takes. Fans don't even turn on
until above boiling (atmospheric pressure) and only the cap
crack pressure prevents it.

A/C forces the fans to run.

make sure you don't have any air bubbles trapped in the motor somewhere. chang the thermostat to a 180* or even a 160* then set the fans to come on earlier.
