Default Is the FAST 90/90 Combo Worth the Extra $$$

Well, i have this book that has done serveral studies and has actually dynoed the products and it claims that the BKK SSI intake w/ 85mm throttle body makes more power than the FAST 90/90 combo. However, people on this site are hung up on the FAST intake and claim you cant go wrong with it. For a person on a budget, is the FAST 90/90 combo (along with it being 5mm wider for the throttle body) worth the extra $400-$500 over the BBK SSI setup? Thinking about getting a different manifold soon becuase i ordered a sts turbo kit and want somethign that flows better, and plus... everyone knows any aftermarket intake is better than the regular 97-00 ls1 intake manifold.

IMHO, an LS6 should do plenty for what you need. If you are going FI the BBK since it is aluminum might be good too. I have heard good and bad things about the FAST set-ups. There's no doubt that with the right set-up they significantly flow very well.

I'm interested and tempted by the FAST 90 intake myself. Did you hear about the new Weiand Street Warrior intake coming out in the spring? It's plastic, supposed to be a bit cheaper than the FAST and a newer design. We'll see how the testing goes for LS6 vs Weiand vs FAST, no use arguing about which is better/best until it arrives. I'm trying to be patient.

I think it was worth every penny, and I'm a cheap bastard that tries to spend every mod dollar very conservatively. I'd compare the 90/90 with doing stainless steel long tube headers. Almost the same cost and I'd dare say nearly the same gains.

I think it depends on your long term goals.
I'll have to keep my eye out for this new intake that's coming out...

Without heads, cam, and exhaust the FAST is not worth it. It is a good piece but should be the LAST item you get to compliment a heavily modded car.

A buddy of mine put a FAST 90 on his stock internal LS1 that is awaiting heads and a cam. He said it made a HUGE difference.

90/90 on a healthy Heads/Cam setup is worth it.

Supposly the fast 90/90 is not worth it for a turbo ls1 car. Is that true? I was researching it the other day and i think i saw that somewhere. Does anybody know why? I think they mentioned leaks due to boost. People are recommending just an ls6 intake for my sts setup.
