Anyone remove their exhaust?
Has anyone removed their exhaust from behind the y-pipe? Looking to drop everything past the Y to see if there is any gain or better sound.

Re: Anyone remove their exhaust?
I had mine off a few days ago. It's very loud. I don't personally care for the sound at all, but I don't like the sound of an A4 even with a cutout open, unless it's at WOT.
I will say this though, the catback is HEAVY. I'd guess around 50lbs for an SLP Dual Dual catback.

I just took my Borla off because I am trying to sell it. I've been running around for about 3 weeks now with it off and it is LOUD. I have stock exhaust manifolds, cats and y-pipe.

Re: Anyone remove their exhaust?
i have heard about the SPL dual-dual being heavy and this is why I want to remove it. I guess it'll be worth it till i find a light cat-back for the car. Or even just pipes without a muffler to go back to the stock rear spots.

Have any of you that removed yours, noticed any fumes in the car while sitting? I don't have any with the cut-out and don't expect any, but you never know

Re: Anyone remove their exhaust?
i sawed mine off not long after I bought the car :p and have never had a cat back on it since. For a while I was running the MAC off-road y-pipe with a bullet muffler in the I-pipe dumped right over the axle, now I am running a true dual setup dumped before the axle. The louder the better, I always say as long as it doesn't have too much RASP.

Re: Anyone remove their exhaust?
I never capped my cutout with stock cats and manifolds. It was a lil too loud. Id think attaching a 3" bullet off the ypipe would be perfect. It would be lighter and cheaper than any catback.

I would recommend something like this:
Just ignore the text. Basically this is where my electric cutout went, so I cut the pipe from there back and added the turn down. Point it straight down instead of to the side in the pic. It sounds the same as when I had the cutout open. Not too loud with the stock Y and cats. I never noticed any fumes either in the 4 years I ran it like that.
