Default Difference between a 99 & 02 TB

Is there a difference between a stock 1999 and a 2002 Throttle Body?

yes, this is a rough representation of the throttle blade cam profile, as you can see the 98-99 will have a much faster opening rate than the 00-02...and of course the return springs are different, I belive the 98-99 are stiffer..

The springs are interchangeable between TB's so don't worry about that. I'm not sure if you can swap them or not due to the different "cam". I would think you could and the only difference would be the rate at which the blade opens.

That and truck cable TBs will bolt onto the intake.
The pulley should not be a problem, putting an '02
TB onto an earlier car might bring you up short for
cable draw. PCV and coolant fittings are different
on a truck TB but the PCV can be swapped easily.
It is also easy to swap throttle shafts if need be.

so a 98 throttle body can bolt up and run fine on a 2000 with out problems? it will just open faster when you push the gas

its probably just gonna hold your blade open, cause you to idle high,, unless your cable adjustments are realllly good

A guy I know put a ported TB on his 01 car and the TB was off a 99 and his transmission would not downshift anymore. To me it didnt make sense as long as the tps was reset and so forth but he put stocker back on and it was fine. He tried it more than once and his transmission will not downshift when you need passing gear.

I figure the cam may not be as agressive on the older ones and the pcm was not seeing enough thrrotle position at the speed that it would normally downshift at.
