The number "should" be the blade diameter but I wouldn't bet any
money on marketing. Still that's what you should measure.
Basically any TB throat needs to flare, or the outside needs to
taper up. Take your pick. You need some structural strength
around the seating circle but you don't want a 1/4" lip to bother
airflow, and so on.
My 85mm tapers a lot but it's 85mm and matches its manifold
perfectly. That's all that matters in my book.
I think drivability tuning comes down to properly modeling the
IAC airflow, and having the blade seat properly. At least these
are what have been issues on my vehicle, not complicated,
only work to do.
How do the holes match up?

I'd send that **** back and tell them you're going to tell everyone about this bad experience with them if they don't make it right...
I mean UMI may have caused the problem, but when it comes down to it they're selling it and should note anything that is fishy about the product before selling it..

But i read that these UMI tb's are the best for drivability and that GM uses them on their race cars. But why would they say its a 90 when its clearly not.

Let us know how Byunspeed's customer service is in dealing with this. I know they didn't design or make the T.B. but they are selling it therefore they need to stand behind the product. If you bought it from them they should handle any problem you have with it. You shouldn't have to deal with the manufacturer unless you purchased it from them. Give them a call and let us know if they take care of the problem. I am sure they will want to make it right if your not satisfied
