Default Emissions - Anyone from Arizona???

Where I'm at now (Good Ole Nebraska) there's no emission checks when registering or relicensing vehicles. They're all for you making your car as brutal as you want but I'm moving to Phoenix soon and want to know what exactly I can get away with down there as far as removing the AIR and EGR systems on my car. I just want to clean the engine bay up a bit and see (if any) what gains may happen. Also would like to get rid of the cats with an Offroad Y-pipe setup. Has anyone here done similar things to these cars in Arizona?

here in phx , all they do is a scan check through the obd2 port , check for codes and the emissions flags , you can have 2 of the flags that have not passed and go through , if there is 3 or more flags not passed , then they will fail you

they might check to see if you have a converter , ive seen them look and other times not look , ive gone through with egr there but not hooked up , and no cat(s)

Where, what part of Nebraska?

For accurate up to date information concerning emissions testing in Arizona visit http://www.azdeq.gov/environ/air/vei/

I live here in PHX and I just bought a turbo camaro from out of state, there are no cats on it now. From what I have read from others some places look for cats and others don't. I don't really wanna have a cat welded in on my car so i am gonna try to pass with no cats. My question is, if they do look to see if I have cats and I don't will they give me a big fine for no cats, or will they just fail me and ask me to come back with cats installed. Has anyone been through this?

So I went to get me car tested right after I posted the post right above this one, and they said the OBDII system is not ready. The print out says my EGR, catalyst, evap system and heated o2 are all not ready. The car has a 5.3L engine with a turbo kit on it. I actually just purchased the car a few weeks ago. Can these problems be taken car of by a tuner? I am not 100% sure if the car has an egr or the evap system, but I have heard of other people who don't have cats and egr's passing before.

The guys at UMS Tuning can help you out. http://www.umstuning.com/contact.html

I love living in northern AZ (Prescott) I don't have to worry about emissions.

2 of those 4 readiness flags needs to run and pass , which usually means driving it , unless someone has a tech 2 and can run the flags
