De-wire mod
So my car started to smell kinda bad, and I found out my passenger carpet was wet, so yesterday I decided to rip apart the interior and clean the carpet up. Since I was there already, I also decided to do the de-wire mod. For those of you who have rewired stereo system like I, I thought it would be a good idea to get rid of all the excess wiring you don't need. I also ripped out some of the matting underneath the carpet. All in all, I saved at least 5lbs of just wiring. Saved a couple pounds ripping out some matting too.
For you weight junkies out there, this is a easy mod to do if you have an aftermarket stereo system. All in all I saved about 10lbs of wire and carpet matting. I haven't found the leak but I also found out my driver's side is doing it as well . I'm going to do the drivers side once I have some time. Also painted the seat mounts so they don't look rusty.

I hope you found and fixed your leak! torchd is right though, I took mine out from the pass side cuz it was all molded from a water leak, and now my interior is a bit louder. still not bad but I need to get some new stuff for it

i did the same dewired mod when i hooked up my jl audio speakers and McIntosh amp...saved me like 10lbs in wire and stock amp in rear fender...also when i took the sound deading off my carpet is was around 16lbs total...so 26lbs is not bad ...
but it is louder in the car...that just means i have to turn the Mcintosh up some more

One weekend I pulled the whole interior. I got rid of all the extra wires, relays, sound deadening, firewall plastic, door bars, air bags etc. All in all I ended up with a little over 100lbs. I was very disappointed all the more the wire weighed though. It did clean up my engine bay getting rid of all the unused connectors.

I am redoing my stereo comple custom wiring can anyone help me figure out what/ where to remove the stock stereo wiring. I have traced the harness to where it enters under the glove box but am afraid to cut until I figure out the path it takes from there. it is a 2000 trans am 6 speed if that helps. if there is a how to or a write up with pictures/ diagrams that be a ton of help.
