Yea.. I did mine with 100,000 miles on it... Just dont cut corners and reuse the timing chain, lifters, oil pump, etc.... Something as cheap as that can break and its all over.

Depends on your planned uses and goals. If gas mileage is a concern I would say it is a bad idea. Obviously you aren't wanting to do that though because performance and good mileage are like mixing oil and water. Tough to have both. Sure it is a good idea. Do your research as far as heads and cam combos though. That is the main thing.

The question to ask yourself is, if and when the bottom end goes, will you be replacing with stock cubes or a bigger bottom end? That should help you pick a good head/cam combo that you can transfer over to the new block...or help you decide whether you want to do it now or wait for a new bottom end.

Well I wouldn't run the same heads/cam on a 346 that I would run on a 408 with the same goals and aspirations. But that might just be me.

Well thats exactly my point. He might want to wait until he knows what hes gonna do about a bottom end. I wouldnt run the same combo either on a 346 vs a 408. But he could go with a good size set of heads and cam that might work well on a forged 347 as well as his stock 346. It all depends on what he plans to do in the future.

That was what I thought you were saying, but was just trying to verify for the OP.
