Default Powerbond = Broken Timing Chain?

I know (2) guys that have broken timing chains and have trashed motors... and both of them are pointing to their U/D pulleys as the cause....

I'm not sure what brand they have, maybe ASP?

At any rate, I've had a Powerbond installed on my LS1 for nearly 12k miles now with no issues... BUT, does anyone have any info on ANY possible chain failure while using this pulley?

Because 5whp is NOT worth a trashed motor to me.... I'll happily install the factory balancer if there is any chance of the chain breaking...

Also, is the Powerbond a true balancer?

Thanks for the input. And I searched and found nothing on this.... but I've found that the SEARCH FEATURE HAS SUCKED LATELY.

what kind of chain did they have? did they skimp out and put the stocker back on or upgrade to a beefier one? I have the Rollmaster duals, no issues with my ASP pulley

Neither of them "skimped" on the chain. I know that one of them spent money on a nice aftermarket roller... SNAP.

I went with a LS2 chain when I did my cam swap.

I dont see how an underdrive pulley would cause it. What is their reasoning?

I think they are trying to say that the pulley didn't dampen the harmonics and over stressed the chain - SNAP!

i had a powerbond dampner come apart on me...as in like it was ready to fall the f off the motor. the rubber isolator seperated itself somehow and it proceeded to knock all the screws out of the front ring and throw the belt. i got lucky i heard it coming apart so it didnt tear up my front cover. but i didnt break a chain.
