Default Trying to decide on a cam, or will I need to go custom?

I will admit I've never done a cam swap before however there's a first time for everything, and I don't want to have to do this twice to get what I want from my motor.
I have a 2002 Corvette coupe. I will have the following mods installed at the time of the cam swap...
-LS6 Heads (probably will be installing them at the same time as the cam - Probably will be PORTED)
-LG Street Longtube headers
-Z06 exhuast
-Vararam intake
-T-stat

Now obviously I plan on doing gaskets, valve springs, studs (like I said heads at the same time), and a proper dyno/street tune as well.

However as it says in the cam guide "be brutally honest" about what you want from your cam and how you intend to use it...
Well I want to make about 425whp with the cam and have not-too choppy idle and most importantly I don't want it to buck at all while driving in 6th gear above 55mph - I have stock gearing on my C5 keep that in mind as I drive the car every day (it is my primary vehicle). I want to to be as close to STOCK (while cruising) as possible.

With that said, what off-the-shelf cam would you guys recommend? Or should I look into a custom one?

*edit* After doing some research I'm thinking about Vengeance Racing's VRX4 cam...

I think this package was built for you:
http://www.thunderracing.com/catalog...vid=7&pcid=289

It's the CheaTR cam and head package from Thunder Racing. It's designed to give you ~400hp to the wheels and sound totally stock.

It may indeed be, but I don't plan to swap heads as I've bought the LS6 heads already and simply don't have the cash to change heads again.

Stock however I wanna find out how much it'd be to port them, I might depending on cost.

No worries...
updated original post and added a suggestion, and I WILL get the heads ported after looking into cost.

Ported is about 600>700$
call TSP or Patriot to see how much they will charge you. A CNC port is more consistant.

We typically charge $650 for cnc work and reassembly. You need to run a search in the dyno section on ported LS6 heads. I think you'll find the Precision Race Components line of LS6 heads are consistanly outperforming the competition.

If you'd like a custom camshaft give us a call, while I think the 224R camshaft would be a great camshaft in your application, we can also help spec something custom for you
