Default Ls1-5.3 power loss?

On a nearly stock engine (L33 5.3) with a mild 212/216 cam and nothing else, what do you feel the power loss would be by removing the truck intake in favor of the lower/better looking LS1 intake. I would like to keep costs down and since I can purchase a LS1 intake for $30.00 I figured that is pretty low cost. I need to change the water pump and pullies to Corvette style anyway. Am I losing 5 or 15 crank HP?

By the way this is going in a very light 2250 lbs car.

What do you think?

No one knows? Way to much knowledge in here to stump the crowd with this.

you'll definitely lose some do to the Ci loss but with that cam and if you added a set of long tubes and a ported TB you'd be looking at roughly the 340hp range even with a ls1 intake

he's just talking about switching intakes, not going from an ls1 to 5.3.
doesnt the car intake make more hp, less torque?

5.3 intakes are for low end to get heavy trucks moving.

the LS1 intake doesn't flow enough above a truck intake to really see a difference in HP with a truck, and he'll lose a bunch of torque. so if you stay with a truck youll be more satisfied. remember when you step on the gas hp is not what pinns you to your seat its torque. keep the truck intake or you will be dissapointed.

The problem is height, I only have 7 3/4 inches and the truck intake is 9.5 Since this is going into a mid engine car, body mods will not work either.

When you say a bunch....what is the numaric value?

If its a clearance issue, then its kinda irrelevant right? If the truck wont fit you have to do it. I did, running a bone stock 5.3 in a camaro with the ls1 intake. Seems to move the car around pretty good.

If you have no choice, do it. Its not the end of the world...And one day I guess you'll go with an LS6 intake.

you will not lose enough power/tourqe to lose any sleep over...ill be running an mild h/c 5.3 with a ls1 intake..."till i can afford a victor jr and a hood lol"....

im not expecting to make as much power as i could with a better manifold.....but im not gonna worry about it...

I could go with a LS6 intake, BBK, Holley or even a Vic Jr but if we are talking 5 Hp then there is no use cutting up thre LS6 manifold to use the truck rails and injectors or having to "play with/retune" for the others. I know the LS6 makes big difference with the larger cubed/modded engines but with the 5.3 and a mild cam I am not so sure if it is worth the $400 if it is only a few hp.

I guess the other question would be, what is to be gained by using the better intakes. If I save $400 going LS1 intake but lose 5HP or spend the $400 and pick up 10 then the 15Hp is worth the extra expense.
