Default 1999 LS1 upgrades

Have a stock 99 Z28 convertible weekend cruiser with 95,000 miles. Planning on making some changes this winter. What would be the best bang for the buck upgrades for HP? Not looking to break the bank, just looking for some extra, reliable HP. Thanks for any help.

Some advice... go to Google and punch in Ls1 upgrades and put Ls1 after it and you will literally get more threads than you can read.

With the said, are you automatic or manual?

manual. I know there is a ton of info out there. Really looking for some real world advice. Combos that people have used with no issues.

Start with a good exhaust, whatever is legal in your state. Working up from there, find an LS6 intake manifold. How much lope do you want at idle? That will help decide the cam. After that you should get your heads ported, or find some 243 or 799 casting heads.
With all this, do some searching on here to fine tune any decisions on any of these parts.
Horsepower target? You never did say...

No real horsepower goals. Just want more than what I have. I need to put some money into trans/clutch/rear gear swap. I think at minimum a cam/head/intake swap. Also, while motors out oil/water/fuel pumps, headers. Just not sure what head/cam would be best, I do want a lope at idle but streetable. Everyone seems push the FAST 92 intake, but I don't want to buy a new one. What would be a step down from that?

The LS6 intake would do you well if the FAST is a bit much Dorman makes a good replica of the LS6.
