Default ls2 intake

why is not a popular option for budget builds ?
Try to search for comparisons with the ls6, sorry could not find. I am considering this option instead of the Pro flo xt due to initial bugs found with it.
My build is a lq4 block, 317 heads, eagle rotating assembly with JE piston for an FI treatment.
Would appreciate information and opinions.

they're great.....at making the engine LESS powerful.

even with the 90mm snout...they don't flow as well as the ls6.

even ported i think they only match the ls6.

ls6...or FAST...whichever you can afford.

If you plan on running forced induction it may be a good option for you. LS2 port works has had good results porting and epoxying them, but in stock form they are not the best choice for a N/A build.

Apparently they did close, I got my LS2 intake ported by Cory, class act guy, they where top of the line in porting LS2 intakes. I am very happy with mine I have no issues and she runs like a bat out of hell.

FYI - GM High Tech Performance did a comparisson a few years back. They said that the LS2 was worse than the LS6, and only marginally better than the LS1. Try searching their site for back issues and articles. Or call them.

What GM was talking about was in its stock form. Yes it was not as free flowing but the LS1 no matter how much porting you do is not worth it and the LS6 can be ported slightly, these gains are 5 to 10 rwhp because there is not that much to port ou of it (GM DID SOMETHING RIGHT). The LS2 in its ported form, from companies like the one mentioned above have rendered 10 to 15 whp gains depending on the application and every single intake company worth their weight is going to specify the same thing. Is the LS2 the best not by far but for people who don't ahve an unlimited budget the LS2 ported does out flow the LS6.

im gunna say no. you can get an ls2 intake for like 80-100 plus the labor to get it ported. im not sure how much they cost to port though so i couldnt say for sure

vs. just paying 300 for a used ls6

What are the plans for the motor? Ive ran 10.9 with a cammed 6.0 and stock truck intake and 100 rwhp shot. For what you gain it really isnt worth the price, unless your talking upper rpm race motor, if its going to be a driver, youll like the truck intake better.

One other thing. Doesn't the LS2 require a larger throttle body? Something like a 90mm? The LS6 uses the stock one.

The LS2 is going to require a 90MM tb and if your looking to get a good one on ebay Jantzer performance you can get one for low 300's P&P. and the 78MM P&P very cheap like dirt cheap. If your going with the LS2 and having it ported they will also port the intake lip to a full 90MM so there won't be as much turbulence as the air comes in and hits the lip wall.

Basically this is all up to you. The LS2 once is worked on is a great piece of equipment, stock yeah its not much but like anything some one with knowledge can make it go a long ways. The LSX is the best out there but people on a budget tend to do what they can with what they have. Good luck with your project and keep us posted.

Sounds like a lot of work to get the ls2 worth using. Offly close to what a used fast intake goes for. Think about it. 150 for the intake. Almost 300 for the larger tb. Then roughly another 300 to port. That is not worth it at all to me.

Rule of thumb here is ls6 or spend the money on a fast
