Default Best H/C/I combo for LS1

planning on buying a 4th gen here soon and wanted to know what experienced 4th gen owners think is the best heads, cam, intake swap. Also a good place to get the car dyno tuned near the chicagoland area.
thanks

Once you do pick out what your combo is, take it to Straight Line in New Lenox. They will take care of you. You could always go over there and they can help you with your build. As soon as my car is done I will be heading over there.

start off by saying AFR heads are one of the best, youll prolly wanna go with a custom ground cam depending on what the purpose of the car is. if you plan on staying N/A the ls6 intake flows pretty well considering the FAST is a lot of money.

if you're gonna mention the FAST is alot of money then you might as well say that AFR's are alot of money too, not to mention that a custom grind cam is gonna be more money than an off the shelf grind. if on a budget, either get a set of stock 243's or go to texas speed or patriot performance for a set of inexpensive heads. for a cam, texas speed, futral, and thunder racing all have proven off the shelf cams for decent prices. as for an intake, ls6 or bbk are you two main choices for on the cheap

now if you have some money to spend, then the AFR and Trick Flow heads are gonna be your best choice and the FAST is hands down the best intake

Picking the right heads/cam setup for you has a lot of factors in it. Things like what your goals are for the car, if you daily drive it or not, what mods are done to the car you are getting, etc. Shoot me a PM if you want with some more info. on the car and what you want out of it and we can get you setup on everything you need. We have a wide variety of head choices as well as different cams to choose from. Also, there is no extra charge for custom grind cams with us if you want to go with one of those. Let us know if we can help!

whats the best head and cam setup? search on the internet for like 10 days and buy the most expensive ones that u can find, should do pretty good. now if u want to be realistic, go to texas speed and performance tell them what u got and they will make u very happy when u push the skinny pedal

A custom grind cam will not cost you more than a off the self cam ... I know because the last two cams I've purchased have been custom grinds ... contact one of the vendors listed on the right side of this page and they can steer you in the right direction...Speed Inc. is in the burbs of Chicago (Schaumburg) if you want someone local to you.

get a hold of texas speed and get a good head and cam package, as for the intake, ive seen ported tb and ported ls6 intakes support almost 450+hp, so as long as u aernt going too crazy, save ur money untill a company makes an intake thats not in the 4 digits(fast)

look for a 1999 or new f-body alot easier to tune.you can find a used set of 243 heads for under $400 ,ls6 intake for $300.buy a new converter $500 ,and custom grind a cam to tie it all together.

I like my combo alot for what I have into it. Some budget heads milled with high compression and a decent cam with a good intake and good flowing exhaust.

If I didnt have a budget I would have gone with trick flows or maybe afrs and I still wonder what I would make by upgrading but in all honesty my car drives awesome made great torque for a 347ci and I just cant argue with that.

speed inc is in shaumburg and does alot of work with ls1s. theyre also a sponsor on this site. find them in the right hand column of sponsors and give them a call. theyll also be able to help wioth some suggestions once you know what your goals are. but untill thn do some research. you cant just salp and h/c combo on theyre, your gonna need supporting mods like exhaust, gears depending on the cam, stall if your a4 and clutch if m6

a) Livernios Motorsports LS6 Stg II Heads .....$1300 -$1400
b) TSP 224 Camshaft with 566 lift or a .581 lift on a 115lsa for a solid street /strip car......$400

or

c) go with a LG Motorsport GX5 2 cam 23*/24% if you want to get a little nastier.....$ 500.

d) LS6 Intake if your car is a 98-00. .....idk how much they cost.
or

e) FAST 92 Intake / 92 Nick Willie TB.......$1300 for both...costly.

f) if you are an a A4....4000 Yank or M6 4.10 motives.

oh yeah almost forgot. make sure you can get a damn good tuner. once your combo is tuned right, you will be very happy about all the money you have spent
