Default backfire?!?!? help me please....

ok here is the deal, 2nd gear 3000 rpm going down to about 2500 and i poped the gas ( trying to make it hop a little at my friend ) and i heard it go kaboom out the tail pipes.... whats that mean? i have never heard that before. i just got gas if thats any info. i hear it backfire when i change gears when im really getting on it but not too too bad. so is that normal ( i have no cats ) or do i need to check something out....i over reved my engine one time so i am gonna replace my pushrods. dont know if that woudl have anything to do with it. and would it hurt anything?

Wish I could help, is it cold racking, or a back-fire for sure?

how long have you had the current exhaust setup? you sure its not the normal poping and crackling you hear when let off the gas? if it was a true backfire it would indicate a rich setting with fuel igniting in the exhaust and hence the pop.

i personally think this is more of an external enginge thread mike...(exhaust) the backfire might quite possibly be fine. i know the last few ta's i have owned and modded all backfired VERY mildly on shifts and there was the occasional backfire when messin' around. are you running longtubes/no cats/cutout? all are contributing factors in making the sound more dominant.

i mean the exhaust has been on there a while, is it normal for some poping when im at WOT changing gears, inbetween gears? this was from what i believe a true backfire i heard it pop. the rpms were backing off and then i got back on it and it poped, hasnt done it all night or ever before at taht. i left it idle down sometimes and get on it like that in 1st and it has never done that. i dont think im rich but ill go double check and monitor all that. so if it was a real backfire woudl it be a problem or no?

i wouldnt worry. if it was just once dont sweat it. as far as the shifting gurgle you hear... that is normal with your set-up. i have never run that one myself but others have. if you have any other q's pm me so we can keep this to the internal guys or ask some of the gurus in the other section. good luck with it mike and dont lose any sleep as these things will happen from time to time.
