Default Looking For Reliable Sleeper H/C Set-up

I'm looking for any suggestions for a reliable sleeper head/cam set-up. It's for my 99 Vette that I daily drive in the summer. It's mainly a street car that I take to the track once in awhile. I would like something that runs like stock, with very good power gains, reliable and emission friendly.

If you have the money AFR's are emissions friendly, A cam about the size of mine or smaller might be what you are looking for.

my car runs like stock with a little lobe to it, not as much lobe as I would like though.

pardon my stupidness, when you have a in/out of over .600, (like that one ^ that shows .604) do the pistons need to be notched for the clearance issue?

No, max lift at .050 has nothing to do with PTV clearances.

Clearances have to do with duration and LSA/ICL near TDC.

You can run Pac 1518 singles with the cam I gave.

Check out Thunder Racing's CheaTR cam and AFR heads package. The AFR 205's are emissions legal and the CheaTR cam would be exactly what you are looking for and make some really good under the curve power. AFR's are sorta pricey but you get what you pay for. Especially to stay emissions legal...Check out the link below. Thunder made 394 WHP with this setup using stock manifolds, catalytic converters, and exhaust.

Whew, well with those bolt-ons you have, you will EASILY put down 400whp. I will say 425whp with the AFR's and CheaTR cam...I think you will like that alot.

For the heads, should I go with 66cc, 64cc or 62cc combustion chambers? The car usually runs on Shell 91 octane and I like to keep it that way.

i really like my 224/224 cam and prc stge 2.5 cnc'd heads. i also have lt's, ud pulley, slp mass air/cai, and no cats. i am probably pushin 420-430ish, and i drive it everyday. if i only had h/c, i would say i would be around 380-390ish. i only run 91 octane.

A friend of mine put down 403/403 on ls6 heads and ls6 cam. I'd just pick up some 243's and a mid-size cam. You can get 243's for 600 and less

AFR 205s, and their 6016 cam seem to makes great power, with little to no lope at all. Its only a 224/228, so its not really a big cam. I believe its the cam in my friends firehawk, which made 448rwhp with LS6 intake.

ill add another vote for the thunder racing package. if you want it as stock as possible then i would get that set up. its only going to be a sleeper though until someone looks under the hood. then the secret is out

.

64cc. With a stock MLS head gasket, that should put you around 10.5:1 CR.
