Default PCV idea

O.k. once again another PCV idea... I am building this as I type it... it seems alot of the oil comes from the Driver side valve cover pcv outlet. How about venting the Driver's side into the passenger side and then hooking up the PCV vacuum to the side of the oil filler neck..???? there will be some fabrication involved (plastic welding) but the oil filler cap doesn't sit right on top of the valve train and would introduce less oil.... the fresh air would still come from the top of the TB..... just a thought but what is your guys opinion....?????????

My car uses a lot more oil when I frequently drive fast on twisty roads. The oil gets trapped in the valve covers due to the centrifugal force in cornering. This is why GM put the pcv in the middle of the engine (valley cover) on the Z06. What I'm saying is the valve covers are a bad place period to collect oil vapors in an LSx engine.

That sounds like a great idea. You could probably find some fitting that could self tap into the plastic filler neck.

I have an LS6, so mine comes from under the intake, otherwise I would try it myself.

Default Pcv

I really haven't heard of any system that will evacuate the crankcase and not sludge up the engine on an LS1 .
I'll bet a good idea might net a few bucks

Sam

I am rebuilding my motor right now and is out of the car. I was wondering this myself could I take the pcv lines and run them stright into the hedders where the air system use to tie in?

You can't plum it directly in; but there is some kind of a "draft tube" setup that can be used. I'm still trying to find out about that myself.

well run an electric air pump to keep the pcv's under vacuum, and dump it in the exhaust (who needs cats anyways).

isn't there an AIR pump already sitting around doing nothing?

I like the Idea.
What if we had taller valve covers and ran breathers on top in front of both? Kinda like old style. Could we then delete the PCV that goes into the intake??
We would have to relocate packs of course and customise the plug wires.

The PCV vacuum is a must regardless..... Taller valve covers are a fix but not a cheap one.... I'll take some pictures tomorrow of what I did and post them....
