Default Heads/cam swap--Stock or Aftermarket Rockers?

Im getting ready to do my head swap and ive got basically all my parts ready to go. Only thing im confused about is the rockers. Im on a budget and if the stock rockers are good then id like to go with them. So im looking to find what the limitations are for the stock rockers and when a set of aftermarket ones become needed. Car will be prc 5.3 heads with a custom cam 224/230 on 113 duration with over .600 lift.

I had the feeling the stockers would be ok but id heard something about a problem with the needle bearings coming apart or something under high spring pressure. Or something like that.....

Bearings are an issue and higher lifts can result in poor wipe patterns and premature valve guide wear. Since the heads are from a GM casting with the harder guides, this may be less of a concern as compared to a head with a bronze valve guide.

Stockers are fine if your on a budget. I know 01Z went 9.90 with stock rockers.

Get the Comp reman-ed kit or Yella Terra Ultralites. Yella Terra have the best clearance and dependability in my book for aftermarket rockers out there without having to worry to much about rocker to valvecover clearance. If you end up going to TFS heads later, they recommend not using the stockers. If you plan on that, then get them now. Do it right the first time.

You could send your stock LS1 rockers to harland sharp and have them do their mod
to them,That's what I did. They are bad *** after they get thru with them. There are quite a few people on here that have done that.If I remember right it costs $260.00

My end of mods ended about 10 mods ago. Once you start modding it is hard to stop.
