Default oil pressure?

What is the normal pressure for lsx engines

my setup is a bored 6L, with ported ls6 oil pump, pick up tube o ring is good (i had to install it a second time and the barbell plug.) has a stewart warner electronic oil pressure guage hooked to it in the factory location (not on the side where the filter is)

on start up my pressure is around 40 after it warms up the pressure drops to around 30, but if i rev the engine it does go up but for normal driving its stays around 30 after warm up. im running mobile 1 10w30. is that normal or do i have a problem.

stock ls6 pump put me at 40 at idle(hot), and 55 or so cold. Jumps up quickly with the throttle... what oil filter are you running... Even if you are running a restrictive oil filter it sounds like you are at least 10psi low...

My oil pressure is around 20psi hot at idle. Goes up with rpm as it should. This is using my stock mada gauge so it is not very accurate. 30psi at idle is more than enough.

i think im running a wix filter, i mean the pressure ramps quick on start and stays there its just after the engine warms up it settles a little lower. wasnt sure how accurate the stock guage was my whole cluster is steward warner and there sending units.

so cruising speed 65 or so and around 30psi is good (this is under 2000rpms also)

try running a mobil one and see if it helps... seems a lil low for the filter you are running.

Should be plenty of pressure, but it does seem a little low.

30lbs is a good idle pressure and not bad for "around town" driving. If you are getting into any high RPM's I would research this a little further. It might give you piece of mind to hook a manual guage up to it and see what it does. It should for sure increase as your RPM's increase.

Just curious, what was your oil pressure before you changed pumps?

Some builders build high HP motors (414ci, 511hp/488tq) with a little more bearing clearances. You may need to step up to a 10w 40 weight oil. Just a thought.

i had considered that actually just to see if it made a difference, as it is due for another oil change
