Default Dad took over my build..... 408/L92 n2o motor

Well my dad has taken over my sleeper nova build since i sold my nova wagon. He is picking up a 67' nova coupe (tubular front clip) and confiscated my iron 6.0. He plans on doing a full on 408 with CNC L92's built for 300+hp n2o shot. He wants it to go bottom 9's. He is shooting for mid-high 500's on motor and mid-high 800's on spray.

Since i dont have the budget for a build like this I will just stand back in awe as he proceeds to build my dream car (my budget ended at 10.99's )

Since he is fairly new to High HP LSx's we need a lil input on the set-up spec's. He has built countless SBC's and BBC's in the 700-1500hp range fwiw

We are looking at a carbed race gas motor:
LQ4 block
Eagle forged crank
Eagle forged rods
Weseco flat top nitrous pistons
CNC L92 heads
Edelbrock Vic jr. (worked of course)

Built TH400
Built 9" rear
Tubbed with 11.5" slick
2600lbs. is the goal

We need input on cam and carb size. I was thinking of having PredZ or PatG spec a cam for this motor, then that leaves me with a missing carb size.

what size gear are you running? With those heads mid to high 500hp should not be hard at all.

I'd have to ask him but i would imagine something pretty steep with that size tire. I think its a 30" Mickey Thompson.

Are you going to run PSCA with this car I have built a few engines for guys who run out there. I grew up in northern CA and moved to NC in 2002.

Nope he just wants a toy he has been a high performance tech for 30yrs plus and has a recently acquired interest in the LSx platform and wants to see what it can do.

Just spoke with him and it seems a FI Procharger build might be another possibility as long as he can afford it, cause as we all know that would be the more costly of the two.

That list is money! Perfect setup IMO.

I would do a sup vic intake port matched and a 4500 style TB or 1050 dominator carb would be nasty.

And of course a big cam. I would hit up patrick G or Ped-z and ask for advise. FWIW Patrick just did one for me recently. It will be going in over the winter.

Funny you should mention that, seems he thinks he is too old to handle a car like that, so he nominated me pilot since my brother would **** himself silly in my 12.5 SS

I would let Patrick G spec a custom cam and call Patrick @ pro systems for a custom carb. You can go on Pro System's site and download a tech sheet. You will be very happy if you go with one of his carbs.
