Default Recommend an affordable puller for the crank pulley/balancer?

I've got my LQ9 mostly torn down to the shortblock, but I can't get the crank balancer/pulley off. My 3-fingered puller set doesn't have anything big enough to work, so I borrowed a larger one from my cousin, but the fingers just slide right off the balancer as soon as I start to tighten it.

This isn't the type of tool that I'm going to use often (or hardly ever for that matter) so I'd really prefer to avoid the Snap-On type stuff due to cost. Anybody recommend an affordable puller that can do the job well?

O'reilly sells a puller that is designed for Chrylser pulleys that works great for the Gen 3. It's not cheap though. Maybe they will do the loan-a-tool deal for it?

+1 on the chrysler style puller. Autozone rents those for free.

Borrowed a kit from Advance Auto that had that chrysler-style puller. Other than not having a long enough rod to slide into the crank bolt hole, it worked nicely. Thanks for the advice!

Most of the elcheapo generic pullers will get it off. I just wouldn't use them over and over again. I abused/destroyed 2 cheap pullers before biting the bullet (and bending over) to buy a Snap-on puller.

If you're a weekend warrior or only using the puller once, a $10-15 puller at Autozone will work just fine.

Just rent one. No need to buy one unless you plan on doing this many times.

can you not rent the tool to remove the balancer AND install the new seal from AutoZone?
