Default Trick flow 220's w/ 224/228 cam

I am in the process of buying new H/C/I. As of now I have STOCK 853 heads with 918's, comp grind 224/228 cam, LS6 intake.

I'm looking into rebuilding engine and buying TFS 220cc as-cast, polluter cam and FAST 90/90 within the next few months. I already have the heads/intake.

I am wondering if I just install the heads and intake for now, is my 224/228 cam going to be to small for bigger heads and intake ?

Just to put it out there:

- No I dont daily drive my car
- other mods on this car are; built tranny, yank 4K,Moser 9" 4.11, Mac Mids, slp LM, all your other basic bolt on's.

Only real downside is that you'd have to have to tune it twice, and wasted time on second cam install. Not much overlaps, so it's not like you'll be doing things twice.

nah you can run the 224/228 with those heads just fine, and if i were u and were pretty serious about running your car at the track i would NOT buy an off the shelf cam. i would find pat g or one of the other guru's and get a custom ground cam.

also pick yourself up a set of LT's and junk those mac's.

polluter or vindicator are both good cams...

both around .61x lift and 240-244 range...

I would mill the heads down too while you are at it...

I would think with those cam specs milling the heads wouldn't be a good idea?

You gotta remember chrs fly cut his setup. My 220's are milled to 60.5cc for 11.2 compression and clear a 230/234 109 ICL cam just fine.....

when you get the TFS heads contact Chrs 1313 about intake port alignment.he has figured how to increase air flow and power with the combo you are considering.check out his thread on his recent dyno testing, great thinking great results.

Thanks For the name drop. I would be interested in talking to actual people who have used the products. Ive heard nothing but good come from these set-ups.

TEA has mentioned some FEL-PRO gaskets to use and the thickness to help with port alignment.

If you cant find him or he doesnt respond it is because he is knee-deep in "What Cam" PM's and emails. Literally, he spends lots of his free time speccing these cams out. If he is not readily available I would consider talking to Geoff at EPS. Predator Z is also another good source as well. However remember that he is overseas and your paths will probably only cross overnight if you are in the US.

Just so I clarify, The cam that is coming out of my camaro isNOT a TR cam it's a comp ground 224/228 and is STILL in the car.

For everyone PM'ing me about the cam, It will be in the car for a few more weeks. Never said it was out and ready to be sold. I just mentioned I was going to get rid of it when I do this swap.
