Question Cam Guys, have question on this grind??

So i just pulled the cam that was in the car when i bought it.. Wasnt 100 percent sure what the specs were, so i did some calling around and found out, its a Comp Cams grind

I wanted to see what you guys would think this cam would be good for? I replaced it with TSPs 224R, in my stock long block, N/A 02 WS.6.

Heres the specs:
Comp Cam
DURATION @ .050 INTAKE 234
DURATION @ .050 EXHAUST 230
VALVE LIFT INTAKE .598
VALVE LIFT EXHAUST .591
LOBE SEPARATION 116.0
INTAKE C/L 112.0

ALL help is appreciated!

comp loves to spec their "shelf cams" with wide LSA on all fuel injected engines so that its easy for the computer to compensate and easy for tuners to tune.

That is just for a broad stock-like powerband. Look at the duration splits on most FI cams. People need to look at all the specs of a cam as a continuous valve event. You can't look at one aspect and assume its for a certain application. Which I am guessing that is what happened here when everyone saw the 116.

Thanks alot Orangeapeel. On the spec card, it said spc to customer, so i dont know who spec'd the cam, but im pretty sure its not a shelf grind.

The rep also mentioned it was 116+4 LSA, but the card didnt say anything about it.

I was reading through the replies wondering why the hell everyone was saying a FI cam.

What heads are on the car or do you plan on getting heads in the future? What kind of exhaust?

I'm sure that is a custom spec'd cam.

It had Lid, stock MAF, Ported TB, LS6 intake, stock heads, pacesetters, ORY, and resonator catback.

Definitely. Not decided on which heads to run though, it will probably be a little while before i get some. I actually considered having a set of 241s ported, just to keep it as stock looking as possible. Not looking for all out performance, the car already has a 4k stall, Performabuilt Level 2 60e, and 3.73s. Im also going to do some subtle weight reduction.

Made a good decision on cam swap then IMO.

I would port 243s... Most people will never even notice the different casting numbers.. Unless you race for big money or something.

Yeah, reverse splits arent usually a common shelf grind. Someone had a plan for this cam at one point. It is probably a custom grind.
