Default should I run the motor until it breaks or forge it first?

I have a turbo setup. At 515whp right now @ 11psi, stock cam, 2002 ls1 with t56. I'd like to thow a cam in and maybe up the boost to get it at 600whp. Should I run the motor until it breaks or forge it first? I hear most likely the first thing to go would be a ring land. But what are the chances it will ruin my block if it goes or would I most likey just need to bore it out like I'd have to anyway if I forge it ahead of time. I've heard some ls1's run 600+ for a few years so it would be nice not to have to forge the motor if I don't need to.

Can't bore it, they take 3 hones and your done, apart from expensive resleeve
Do it once, do it right

What I'm asking is what is my chances of ruining the block if I just run it until a ring land or something else goes out?

i woudnt risk it if i were you. if a piston lets go, chunks of that piston can go through your head, destroy your head and possibly destroying your turbo to. if a rod lets go, well then your whole entire block is fucked.

I would do the cam, you could probably gain a good amount of power, without reaching more dangerous cylinder pressures. Either way I would say a perfect dyno tune and the right fuel will be essential. I would not increase your boost unless you build the engine with forged components. I would not risk it unless you can afford to replace it.

If you just put a set of pistons, good hardware, and new bearings in, it would last a long time with a good tune and fuel.

Well if I were to pull the motor and do all that work, I'd throw in rods too and call it done.

if you are trying to keep it alive at higher power levels dont put a big cam in it and spin it out real high.

Leave it as is and crank the boost up a little. It will be fine if its tuned right.

My friend who is pretty knowledgeable also told me to do a cam because it would be easier on the motor rather then run more boost. So some of you guys say don't run a cam because I'd have to rev it higher and others say do cam. Here is my dyno.

How do you use/plan to use this car? Street only, HPDE, etc.? In other words, you should think about what kind of powerband you want to end up with.
