I finally cracked the seal...
After nearly 46K miles, the Formula is Stock Internals no more
Got a little dirty last weekend
There's a lot of room in there, once everything is out
MTI Stage 2E's and my stock 2001 heads (241). Checkout the spring sizes
Old stuff.. (reused rockers)
MTI Stage 2E's
After reaching my goal of running 11.5's Stock Internals, it's time to step up to Heads/Cam and shoot for some 10's
I've been shopping for the past 6-8 months for the best combo for me. My Formula gets driven alot, so I want something I could trust on my long haul trips from Maryland to Florida, or anywhere I decide to drive and race at.
Being that I am on a limited budget, I was mainly looking at most shops "budget" heads. Tony (Nine Ball) and Stephen (Colonel) pointed the 2E's out to me while we were down at the Bristol Bash. Frankly, I never even consider MTI... I just assumed I couldn't afford them .
After looking into different setups, I ordered the MTI Stage 2E heads and a X1 cam. IMO it's the best bang for the buck setup out there. Not to mention MTI is well know for it's quality and performance. Funny enough.. even after a lot of "nice" to have parts, I still came out hundreds of dollars less than what I would have paid for just heads a couple years ago!
Customer support at MTI was outstanding! I place the order and everything arrived as promised, ~3 weeks later. During the install I had a lot of questions, Jayson and the gang answered every one.
Here's a break down of my MTI "Budget" build up:
MTI
-Stage 2E Heads - $1595
-X1 (230/227) cam - $399
-Chromoly Pushrods - $119
-Total w/S&H - $2163
Thunder Racing
-Ported LS6 Oil Pump - $134.96
-JWIS Timing Chain - $134.99
-Total w/S&H - $277.94
MISC Fluids, Gaskets & Bolts - ~$150
If your looking at the "budget" heads, don't count MTI out
Track times coming as soon as the snow melts!
BTW: Special thanks to jmX for the great install documents on http://www.ls1howto.com/ !!

VERY NICE!!! After realizing how much my tax return is going to be a lot bigger than i though, i've decided against the n2o route and going with the same heads and cam setup you just did. I recently saw the price on the MTI 2E's and with their reputation, you can't pass that deal up. I can't wait to see your results.
