Default Help! In the middle of H/C Swap

We are in the middle of swapping my heads and cam for some Stage 2.5 LS6 Heads and a TSP Tsunami cam...We ran into a problem or we think it is a problem anyway...When we put the cam in, it seems like it goes too far back. We've done LS cam installs before and have never encountered this. Please help! I can't find anything in the writeups. I appreciate your help in advance.

When you bolt the retainer plate on it will pull cam back in place for the line up pin to sit in the cam gear.

When we slide the cam in and put the cam retainer plate on the cam can move back and forth about a 1/4 inch between the cam retainer plate and the back of the block. Yes, we have done two LS1 H/C swaps prior to this one. I just dont remember seeing this before.

Retainer prevents it from moving forward, cam gear prevents it from moving backwards

You're fine, abnormal is when it slides off a main or wont go in all the way
