Default My high compression 364/LS3 heads build

I thought i would share this new build for the Coupe. Putting together a super well seasoned 07 GEN 3 LQ4 out of an Express van, when pulled it had 397,000 miles on it, ran perfect and always had synthetic oil since day one, but towards the end had a fluctuating oil pressure issue which upon tear down I found a very loose fitting oil pickup tube o-ring. The motor was very clean inside, actually looked like a 70,000 mile motor internally.

Anyway here is the build.......

364 .005 over
Wiseco 12cc dome Nitrous pistons(coming up with about 13.28 to 1)
K1 6.125 rods
Crank polished up nicely, balanced rotating assembly
Block decked .010
Clevite H bearings
ARP main studs/head bolts
H3 pan and pickup
LS3 heads milled .030 otherwise untouched
GM LS3 head gaskets
Cloyes Hex-Adjust double roller timing set
Cam Motion custom hydraulic roller grind
GM roller lifters
GM rockers
Comp pushrods
LSA valve covers and coils
Edelbrock Victor Jr rectange port intake
Holley 1000hp carb(may convert to E85-98)
1 3/4 headers stepped to 1 7/8

Should have the block back from the machine shop in a couple of days, had to get X main bearings for the clearances we wanted. Results coming soon from the chassis dyno and track.......

Can't wait to hear more! I'm building a 12.5:1 pump gas 408 right now.

What kind of dcr are you looking at( I take it you don't want to give out the cam specs), and what kind of fuel do you plan on running if not e85?

Why not go solid roller? With that kind of compression and the intake you want to go with it only seems logical. At that point I would run the 1-7/8 headers also.

I have'nt bothered to figure out the DCR yet, I may go solid roller next year but i didnt want to buy high dollar roller rockers and lifters this year. The lifters only had 2000 miles on them. Im not trying to set any records, i'm a bracket racer so cam specs are'nt a secret. Its a 248/256 on a 110LSA and .603/.595 lift with the 1.7 rockers. I'de like to borrow a set of 1.8's when I get it running for chassis dyno and track results to see how the car will run but im asuming it should pick up mid range and top end. I kept the stepped 1 3/4-1 7/8 headers to broaden the torque curve as my car is heavy, and they fit like a glove. Ive always had good luck with the smaller headers even on my 540ci BBC in my heavy car they were only 2" primaries.

Mark, I'll be running race gas(i like the smell) if not E85/98, but its still gonna see some street duty maybe to a few shows.

I wouldn't have a problem running race gas...even have a Sunoco down the street that sells 114 unleaded, but $7.54 a gallon would hurt my pocket in a daily driver lol

Depending on your intake valve events you might just be able to seek by on 93 octane....I'm running a 255/263 .624/.624 115 lsa and this cam puts my dcr right at 8.22:1. I've read where some people have even run as high as 8.5:1 ot a hair more on pump gas, but you'll be pushing it.

If I did my calculations correct the DCR will be 11.27

Ive got to double check to make sure its correct, but if its right should make some good power. Once i get it put together i cant wait to check the cranking compression. The longer rod im using seems to gain more in dynamic compression compared to the shorter 6.098 rod with my cam according to my calculations.

Screw that...lol, ide put the deck on the back burner! Get goin on that motor Mark!

I just got done laying paint on the block, after one final wash with laq thinner it'll be ready for assembly. Cam bearings next file fit the rings and put the rotating assembly in it.

Ive decided to take the car to the track and dyno on race fuel then send out the carb for the E85 conversion then back to the chassis dyno and track for a comparison.

I wasn't sure just how far I could push it on pump gas....did you have to back your timing off?

Short block is complete, cam is degreed. The motor spins by hand very easy. The heads will be going on today.
