Default TSP Torquer V3 Cam only application

Looking into purchasing the TSP Torquer V3 for my 2000 LS1. I daily drive this car and it does see a good amount of city driving ie: stop and go, LOTS of traffic lights. I am wondering if this cam will be overkill for what I am looking for. I dont really have any plans to upgrade the heads unless I come across a sweet deal on some ported LS6 heads.

Would the TSP 228R or even the 224/228 be a wiser choice? Im looking for a considerable gain obviously, but Im not shootin for record cam only dyno numbers. I would be happy in the 370-390rwhp range.

Also, obviously valve springs will be needed, but what about pushrods? Car has 87k on the clock. I figure I should probably replace them. What are some other surrounding parts that are recommended to replace when installing a cam. I want to one and done this.

You will need pushrods and either of those cams should meet your goals with supporting mods the lower duration cams will be more streetable but they all are pretty good considering the tune and what your definition of streetable is

The 228R would be a better choice for what you are looking for. Yes, pushrods are needed and of course a professional tune.

How much wrhp less would this produce over the Torquer V3? Roughly of course.

A friend of mine daily drives a Torquer V3. Its pulls great when playing around. Tuning is the key thou. He got a horrible tune orginally an he considered taking it out for a cheater V3 until finally getting it right an now he is in love with his car all over again.

The torquer v3 cam drives fine in a daily driver. In a 6 speed car it drives awsome with a 3.73 or 4.10 gear.

With a good tune you could daily drive the car with that cam in there, but the 228R tends to be a more popular daily driver cam. It has more power down low which most guys favor for the daily driving aspect.

Agreed, and either would benefit from a gear swap.

Thanks for the input guys. My biggest concern is that I DD my car in some serious traffic and I mean SERIOUS! DC Metro Area. I also dont want a crazy choppy idle as that will attract a lot of unwanted attention. Is it possible to have a torquer v3 with very little notice that there is a cam in the car?

Looks like you'd be much better suited with something like the 224r or 228r as mentioned above.

i have the same cam, i drove it everyday until my clutch went out. I didnt have any trouble driving it. Just let her warm up before you go anywhere. Mods are in sig. The cam sounds sick btw

Also, 4.10-m6 3.73-A4 for this cam.
