Default Rwhp????

Ok so I've seen some videos of stock 01 ws6's dyno at 318hp to 322hp at the rear wheels with around 340 ftlb torque. Ive had my ws6 sense 01 and have had a few mods done this whole. ( due to $$$ ) Will be getting a cam and dyno tune along with better clutch and rearend and am shooting for 400+ rwhp. I'm still racking my brain on witch cam, clutch and rear to get. All I have on it now is edelbrock coated shorties, random tech high flow cats and 3 in Borla cat back and high flow air lid. Any educated guesses on my current rwhp?

What are you looking to do with it, drag, street, auto x? Even with stock power, I've seen stock rear ends break with sticky tires....so instead of getting gears I'd look for a great deal on a 12 bolt or 9" and 4.11 gears.
For good low end power look at something like a 220/228, if you want more of a top end cam and better dyno numbers something more like a 228/234...you'll want a lot more exhaust duration to help out the shorty headers.

As for clutch, hopefully someone else will jump in since I don't know much about them...I've been running automatics for years, and just now swapped it out for a manual...but I decided to try out the Ram Muscle Car clutch

Yes I know about the weak 10 bolt and by rearend I mean replacing whole thing. As for what I use the car for it's just a weekend street car that might go to the track a few times in the near future... Thanks for the cam suggestions and maybe i should specify that I want great power throughout not just top end or low end for the cam

Oh and on top of that would love to break the 400+ rwhp mark with the upcoming cam but live far from any dyno to tell me what I'm currently pushing witch is why I'm hoping someone has a close estimation to where I'm at with the few mods that are already on it

One big thing that will hold you back is the shorty headers, they look good and flow better than stock manifolds, but not by much, so if you can legally run them where you live I'd include a set of long tube headers in your build

The ls7 is a good clutch for your power. Simply getting a cam that is only for a high dyno number is not really the best thing for a street car. You'll end up with no bottom end torque and the car will be tough to drive in traffic.

If you have an extra $1K pull your heads and send to AI for porting and match with one of their cams. 450 rwhp is not an unreasonable goal with this combination with long tube headers and you will end up with a much better performing car. After you get it back together you can tell everyone it is a cam only car and have a lot of fun.

So since iam still using my original heads, can I tell people my 408 just has a cam and crank?

- MWC 9" for a rear
- Clutch go TDP (diamond) or Monster with a lightweight flywheel. If you get them on sale their only about $100 more than an LS7 and a much, much better setup. LS7's have about a 20% failure rate, not very good odds. Plus they have a heavy flywheel which robs HP. I think Monster is having a sale right now for $100 off. I personally have a TDP stage 2 and love it, drives close to stock and good for 600hp.

What is your budget like? And by a few times to the track, do you really mean a few times or are you going to get hooked like all of us and just keep wanting more

Personally I say do the rear end first, and work your way forward. That way you know your rear end won't, well shouldn't at least break once you start making more power.

By saying a few time at the track I mean just that cuz I've had it 11 years now and just run it on the street. My budget is 4500$ and the guys at gearheads in Dallas said 4200$ for cam package and clutch an rear woul be around 4200$ or so with labor included....still haven't had any guesses on my current rwhp but I will find out when all this goes down in may before the upgrades just wanting to have an idea before then lol!

What cam, clutch, and rear are you getting for $4200 including labor?

Or did I misread and Cam/Clutch + Labor = $4200, and then Rear end + Labor = additional 4200?

I had a stock ws6 with lt's and magnaflow I installed the lingenfelter gt1-1 cam on stock heads and broke the 400hp to the wheels. I upgraded the valve springs and push rods and set the rev limiter to 6400. its extremely nice. but new heads intake and exhaust are coming soon. lol I'm just greedy. I want more pwr.

also the gt1-1 showed a very nice linear power increase. I have dyno sheets to prove it. no spikes or drops. just pwr.

I don't know what cam or rearend or clutch but most cam packages I've seen are same price and all rears seem to be 2300$ to 2500$ so that's where I'm getting my estimates or total price give or take a few hundred.....thanks for gt1-1 info...where can I go to look up the details on it

To BigBO2Z28- the cam package is 599$ and labor is 500$ on cam install + 450$ for dyno tune then most rears or 2400$ or so don know labor on that but can't be as much as cam and clutch I'm guessing 500$ so that's where I'm guessing 4200$ or so without labor on clutch so hopefully I can get all done around 4500$
