Whats up guys....im doing my first h/c/i swap alone with suspensions mods and a th400 on my 98 camaro...as of now i have everything ready to start putting the car back together , but before i put the heads back on...i wanna make sure the deck is clean enough for the mew heads. As long as the bolt holes are clean and dry, you're good to go.

the bolt holes are clean and dry...also I'm gonna use a ARP thread chaser to clean them real good...another problem I'm having is that i cant remove the crank sprocket to change the timing chain. Any ideas or tricks to remove it...i don't want to force it and damage the crank. what can i do there?

Easy is the key. I just did this yesterday.

Follow this link: http://ls1howto.com/index.php?article=2

Make sure the balancer bolt is loose and can be turned by hand. My impact made short work of this; if no air tools are around, a big breaker bar and 22mm socket I believe.

Step 4 is where you are. The trick is getting your 3 ton (3 arm) jaw puller in there where you are pulling the right locations. The stock balancer has these little ridges set inside the pulley to where you can lock the arms on these and be good to go. Follow these steps and you shouldn't have any problems. If you run out of room (NO threads left for the bolt to bite) then I used a deep impact socket that fit snugly into the hole with the head of a bolt slid through where the 1/2" drive impact would go. (If you dont do this your threaded bolt on the puller will probably insert itslef inside the socket causing an issue.) There are other ways but this worked well. If you have a question be sure and ask, you'd rather ask now than to have to post a picture of some crazy **** you did to remove the pulley and somehow messed it all to hell..lol Patience is key.

Also from EXPERIENCE!! have a friend handy to lift the condenser once you remove the cam if not you risk scratching the front cam bearing. The condenser will move up and down easily, but bring the driver side up at an angle so you can really get the condenser out of the way. It will only flex so much so just have a set of extra hands tp help you out so this goes smoothly. It will come out nice an easy just keep spinning it and supporting it even with two hands when it comes out far enough.

Good luck, let us know how things go.

I bought one off of Ebay, used it, then sold it to another member here. He probably did the same thing.

Well worth the $$$
